Bladder Home > Interstitial Cystitis Food List
There is no scientific evidence linking diet to interstitial cystitis. However, some people believe that certain foods make their interstitial cystitis symptoms worse. The following list includes several foods and beverages that some people with interstitial cystitis choose to avoid in order to prevent worsening of symptoms:
- Caffeinated and citrus beverages
- High-acid foods.
Other people notice that their symptoms get worse after eating or drinking products containing artificial sweeteners.
If certain foods or drinks make your symptoms worse, these products should be avoided. You can gradually reintroduce them one at a time to see which ones, if any, affect symptoms. It is important, however, to maintain a well-balanced and varied diet.
