Can Bladder Infections Cause Interstitial Cystitis?

Interstitial cystitis is different from a urinary tract infection (UTI). While some interstitial cystitis symptoms resemble those of a bacterial infection, medical tests reveal no organisms in the urine of patients with interstitial cystitis. Furthermore, patients with interstitial cystitis do not respond to antibiotic therapy.
