Cipro XR Antibiotic Information

People with urinary tract infections (UTIs) or kidney infections may be given the antibiotic Cipro® XR (ciprofloxacin extended release). This medication comes in tablet form and is generally taken once a day. It is important to swallow the tablets whole and not crush, chew, or break them.
 
Prior to beginning treatment with Cipro XL, inform your healthcare provider of any other medical conditions you have, such as kidney disease or certain heart arrhythmias, and any other drugs you are taking, including nonprescription products. This antibiotic is not appropriate for everyone, particularly those who are taking tizanidine (Zanaflex®).
